Equifax Hack - As Many as 143 Million Americans — Almost Half the Country — May Have Had Their Data Stolen

Cyber criminals have hacked into Equifax and accessed sensitive information -- including names, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and the numbers of some driver's licenses.

The breach started back in May but wasn't discovered until late July.

"This is reason Number 10,000 to check your online bank statements and credit card statements on a regular basis, ideally weekly," said Matt Schulz, senior industry analyst at CreditCards.com. "Bad guys can be very patient, so it's important to keep an eye out long after this story fades from the headlines."

Equifax is allowing consumers to check if their information was breached by providing their name and the last 6 digits of their social security number.  Regardless of whether it was impacted or not, Equifax is providing an option for consumers to enroll in the TrustedID Premier program.  The enrollment period runs through November 21, 2017.  You can access the enrollment site here
